From Sea to Steamer – Happy as a Clam !

As clams are rolling out of our warehouse and retail store as quickly as they are coming in, it makes us appreciate the life of a clam! Clams travel from the Mid-Atlantic states to Euclid Fish Company just to complete the perfect fall meal (Chef Comella’s Classic Clambake!). Euclid Fish Company sources clams from the Chesapeake Bay and other Virgina shores.

Starting as a seed, farmed clams are seedlings created in hatcheries while wild clam eggs are dispersed naturally with water currents. All clams, farmed or wild, feed by filtering water and absorb nutrients from algae. Clams live in a unique environment, which is a mix of sand and mud burrowed near oyster reefs and sea grass. Once clams reach proper sizing, little neck clams are ready to harvest before cherry stones, they are processed, bagged and shipped to our store. Pick up a bag today to embrace the fall flavors!
